What is your purpose?


Do you ever stop and think to ask yourself 'Why am I doing this?' Increasingly I'm observing that the sense of purpose is far more relevant than it was many years back when people stayed in careers for many years at a time. Knowing what you stand for, being true to yourself about your personal values can help you with direction and decisions as you navigate your choices in life and work.

4 Questions to help define your purpose:

  1. Why are you working?

  2. What is important to you?

  3. What are your personal values?

  4. Why do you do what you do?

It would be rare to find someone that goes to work to just fill in the hours of the day. Think carefully as to what drives you to go to work each day. I have listed a few 'purpose' examples from colleagues below and perhaps they resonate with you:
